About Matters @ Play
Matters at Play (M@P), directed by Lien Tran (DePaul University’s School of Design), is a transdisciplinary design lab partnering in the creation of interactive advocacy solutions for positive social transformations – especially for social justice, health, and environmental issues. M@P both incubates and launches projects for real-world impact as part of a faculty-student collaborative as well as in the classroom context.
Our partners include advocacy, government, non-government, and/or academic organizations looking to use interactivity in both digital and analog contexts with the goal of informing and transforming society and its people.
Our methods include iteration, human-centered design, design thinking, tandem transformational game design, geospatial thinking, and data analytics.
Our solutions include systems design of online games, tabletop (analog) games, web apps, websites, and extended reality (XR) such as virtual reality (VR) that are context driven.
M@P is based out of DePaul University’s Jarvis College of Computing and Digital Media’s School of Design.
