Project Scope

The research team’s project revolved around the design and development of an interactive kiosk that enabled museum visitors to personalize postcards featuring artwork from the DePaul Art Museum (DPAM) permanent collection. The kiosk provided patrons with the option to digitally share their customized postcard or print it, when printing facilities were available. The overarching aim was to enhance engagement with DPAM through word of mouth by offering an easily shareable, interactive experience.

The primary objective of this project was to craft a unique and memorable encounter for visitors, allowing them to customize a keepsake postcard that would foster increased engagement with DPAM via word of mouth. By offering a personalized element, the research team sought to establish a stronger connection between the museum and its patrons.

The primary objective of this project was to craft a unique and memorable encounter for visitors, allowing them to customize a keepsake postcard that would foster increased engagement with DPAM via word of mouth. By offering a personalized element, the research team sought to establish a stronger connection between the museum and its patrons.

To achieve this, the team employed software solutions to develop an interactive kiosk that encouraged users to engage to their experiences at not just DPAM but the greater DePaul Arts District, which includes DPAM and the Theatre School, School of Music, and Art School. Creating a unique doodle map and customized postcard kiosk serving all members of the arts district is an innovative approach to visitor engagement aimed to create a lasting impression and encourage continued interest in the university’s art programs including the museum’s extensive art collection.
